Week 6: Etsy UX

 1) Visibility of system status:

       - The design should always keep users informed about what is going on, through appropriate feedback within a reasonable amount of time.

       - When searching for items, the Etsy app clearly shows the loading screen for the user to see that the app is working on loading the appropriate matches to the user's search.

2) Match Between system and the real world:

    - The design should speak the users' language. Use words, phrases, and concepts familiar to the user.

    - The app uses familiar terms and icons located throughout the app. An example, the icons located at the bottom of the screen show a magnifying glass, heart for favorites, and a cart icon.

-this is a good use

3) Flexibility and efficiency of use:
    - Shortcuts--hidden from novice users--may speed up the interaction for the expert users such that the design can cater to both inexperienced and experienced users
    - The app allows users to search only for products that would arrive by a specific date. This weeds out products that would take too long for shipping, thus saving the user time while shopping.

4) Aesthetic and minimalist design:
    - Interfaces should not contain information that is irrelevant or rarely needed.
    - The app constantly shows an alert to leave reviews on the profile icon. Even after leaving reviews, the alert is still present until you close out of the app and reopen it.
 Rating- 2-minor usability problem

5) Transparency and feedback:
    - An app/website should have clear and accurate information for the user
    - The Etsy app does not show all the fees included when buying from multiple shops in the app. The cart only shows some of the shipping and tax costs until you are in the final check out stage.
Rating- 3- major usability problem, important to fix.
